Why we do what we do

Cherie’s Story

At 30 years old, I could no longer do many of the things I loved. Previously a very active person, I was so fatigued even walking up a short flight of stairs or making the bed was a labored effort and would cause heart palpitations and require me to rest. Eating became a horrible experience, since my stomach couldn’t handle most foods regardless of how healthy the food was. I had irritable bowel syndrome and there were many times I would be racing to the bathroom even before I finished my meal. I had difficulty concentrating most days at work because I had horrible brain fog and was exhausted all the time. Adding to my exhaustion, sleep was extremely difficult because my legs constantly ached. These were some of my top symptoms and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me.

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and specifically Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disorder. After a year of increasing medication every 6-8 weeks, I started feeling better and my major symptoms decreased. Although, I was better, I still had many lingering symptoms. Taking thyroid medication although beneficial, did not eliminate all symptoms and it did not address the underlying root cause. Why did I have Hashimoto’s?

What I’ve done since my diagnosis in 2006:

  • research to figure out what it means to have an autoimmune disorder

  • discover my specific food sensitivities that cause inflammation in my body

  • learn how stress impacts me

  • figure out “why” behind my remaining symptoms

  • look at my history and figure out the root cause(s)

20+ years in the corporate world of being a human resources leader along with several years as an executive and partner of a small company - my mission has always been focused on people and positively impacting their life:

  • helping solve a variety of complex problems related to the business and day-to-day activities

  • short-term and long-term goal planning

  • teaching how to navigate stressful situations related to both personal and professional highs and lows

  • coaching people to optimize their experience

I’ve been a mentor and coach to many. And now, with these skills, education, personal and professional experiences, my passion is to have a bigger impact. Focus on helping people get to the root cause of their issues and optimize their health; educating, coaching, and mentoring individuals to live a healthier, longer life.

Brittany’s Story

Although my diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) wasn’t until 2011, I experienced hormonal imbalances years prior to my diagnosis: body and facial acne, irregular periods, insomnia, fatigue, low mood, constant hunger, extremely oily scalp and face, sugar cravings, and more. This led to six years on birth control (and many different pills) to “control” my PCOS symptoms, which then led to my diagnosis of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) in 2016. Abdominal cramping, food sensitivities, rosacea, high blood pressure, almost pre-diabetic, intense bloating, extreme digestion issues, yeast infections, fatigue, weakness, constant hunger, daily headaches, spotting almost every day, sleep issues, PMS, excessive oily skin, and more. I was fed-up with my OBGYN who kept prescribing different birth control pills when I’d come in with new and worsened symptoms every year. I took matters into my own hands, and I started to do my own research on healing my body naturally and made an appointment with a naturopath. Fast forward to 2022 and two kids later; I’ve completely reversed all my symptoms from both diagnoses.

What I've done since 2016 to support my body in overcoming PCOS and SIBO:

  • a lot of research in holistic healing and finding root causes

  • food sensitivity testing

  • eliminated sensitivities during treatment

  • more whole foods and less packaged foods

  • supplementation to re-balance my body

  • avoiding known toxins

  • regular chiropractic, and more

I'd say my knowledge for true wellness and what it actually means to be healthy began when I worked for a chiropractor in 2016 - I gained so much insight on how the body works, what happens when the body is out of balance, toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis, and so much more. After acquiring all this knowledge as a chiropractor's assistant, I was hungry to learn more. Shortly after changing career paths, I started a Health Coach Certification so I could help people dealing with the same issues I had. After my certification, life happened, and I found out I was pregnant the same day I found out my youngest sister was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. My health coaching took a pause and I focused on my family for a while.

In 2022, my daughter was experiencing a lot of abnormal symptoms: such as very frequent pee accidents, loose stools, constant thirst, unsatiated hunger, sneezing daily, sick every two weeks, dizzy spells, angry all the time, complained her body hurt, night sweats, sensitive to noise, discolored patch of skin on chest (yeast), and tired and cranky after taking naps. After a visit to her pediatrician, she recommended my daughter do a "detox". This experience led me to discover even more about the human body, dysbiosis, and the impact the environment you live in can have on your health. I am excited to bring you all along this journey as we continue to remove these toxicities from our bodies and improve our health. We have already seen so much improvement in our daughter!
